Welcome to City Hall!
Meet the Mayor
Hi, I am Gloria Sanchez, your mayor. I have served as mayor of Clear City for 3 years. In this election year, I am excited to share my vision for continuing to build this city into a true oasis for all its citizens while continuing to build our reputation as a tourist destination.
Together, we will thrive!

City Council Districts
Clear City has total population of 50,000 year round residents divided into four city council districts.
North Island is not an island, but is difficult to access as it has only one major access road. This area is world famous for its beach resorts on the ocean side and luxury homes and marinas on the bay side. With a fulltime population of just 5,000, this district swells to over 50,000 during the summer months as well over 250,000 tourists visit the beaches and stay in the resorts.
Downtown has the largest fulltime population at 20,000. A multitude of small businesses and mixed use buildings make this a vibrant place to live and work. This district is also heavily visited by tourists during the summer months.
Bayside has a population of 10,000. This area used to be known as the "new warehouse district" due to its emphasis on large warehouses and big box stores after the railyard shut down. It now has a large business tax base due to the airport, hospital, mall, car dealerships, and the luxury shops along the bay. What to do with the abandoned railyard has been a major point of contention for the last three decades.
Southside has a population of 15,000. This area features three lakes and was an agricultural area during the founding years of the city. During the brief logging era, the population grew dramatically as new arrivals settled here to work in the lumber mills and rail yard. Now, Southside is considered the most economically disadvantaged part of the city, with few businesses and the majority of residents commuting to other areas for work. Many Southside residents work in the hospitality industry and face financial hardship each winter as the hospitality sector contracts.
City Council Members
Each city council representative has a duty to their own district while working together to promote the prosperity of Clear City as a whole. Monthly City Council meetings are open to the public. While meetings generally follow Robert's Rules of Order, the city charter was amended 20 years ago - when North Island separated into a separately recognized council district - to specifically require that all 4 members plus the mayor must be physically present for quorum to be achieved.
